Link Logistics Real Estate (“Link”) is an industrial real estate operating platform owned by The Blackstone Group Inc.  Link currently manages a national portfolio of high-quality, well-located industrial assets totaling over 397 million square feet throughout the U.S. 

SUMMARY

The Real Estate Tax Manager will direct the daily workflow of a team of 1-3 Real Estate Tax Analysts and 2-3 offshore Real Estate Tax Associates in Link’s shared service center, ensuring that real estate tax expenses are accurately reflected in Link’s general ledger. In addition, the Real Estate Tax Manager will ensure schedules are complete and accurate, serving as the real estate tax subject matter expert in Link’s budgeting/forecasting process and continuously improving Link’s real estate tax processes end-to-end.  This person will manage relationships with real estate tax appeal partners, external assessors and local jurisdictions to further the goal of minimizing Link’s real estate tax liability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate ownership and supervise the execution of property tax schedules for accounting, finance, and treasury, for budgets, accruals, and cash projections.
  • Maintaining, optimizing and improving Link’s real estate tax software suite.
  • Ensuring that Link’s critical tax date calendar is always up to date.
  • Continuously improving processes related to recording real estate tax expenses in Link’s Yardi ERP.
  • Serving as a liaison between Link and all third-party providers that facilitate real estate tax payments, appeals and other collateral activities.
  • Intake, delegate and respond to all inquiries from other Link departments regarding real estate tax expense related questions.
  • Continuously staying abreast of asset valuation methods (income, cost, sales etc.).
  • Development of training materials for new hires and existing subordinates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS in Finance and/or Accounting.
  • CMI and/or CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in property tax management for a large business or real estate tax consulting firm.
  • Experience in negotiating property tax reductions via formal/informal appeals.
  • Knowledge of state and local property tax reduction initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • iTam, Yardi and BlackLine experience is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines.
  • Self-motivation, determination and initiative in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial work environment.
